Each One Teach One
How often have you heard the question what were you thinking or what on earth was on your mind? Most people believe they are thinking all the time since in general thinking refers to using the brain to reason, form thoughts and opinions, make judgments and sensible decisions, and arrive at conclusions. However, given the upside down quality of life seen in our communities, clear thinking seems to be lacking. What is needed is higher thinking, critical thinking. Critical thinking consists of a mental process of analyzing or evaluating information, particularly statements or propositions that people have offered as true. It forms a process of reflecting upon an inner awareness that allows a person to see all sides and to move emotions out of the way. One might ask why it would be necessary to move emotions out of the way of thinking clearly. The answer is simply that when a person is emotional, reasoning and the ability to see the truth is often clouded. An example of how fear, coercion, and clouded truth are used to make intelligent people go against their own well-being is the years of controversy over the unsafe use of immunizations. Now, the true is out. Studies upon studies have revealed that immunizations are unsafe came about partly because of the alarming cases of autism in children, growing mounds of evidence and also because of the protracted and persistence struggle of parents. Yes, the mercury in immunizations have definitely been linked to not only autism, but also to Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Another example of using critical thinking is hearing and seeing commercials about our young girls taking yet another immunization (Gardacil) when we have evidence and information that tells us that the big pharmaceutical companies are not to be trusted. So we analyze the information and remember the Tuskegee experiments and all the deaths and damage of lives that the large pharmaceutical companies have contributed to. The analyzing of all the information would remove the emotion of fear and replace it will strength of conviction to avoid the trap of a well plotted out campaign of genocide.
There was a time when people interacted with each other in such a kind, nurturing, and natural way. The interactions were taken for granted. The secure feeling that ones’ neighbor without being asked would look out for the children on the block was a given. Folks being willing to pool money, collect food, and do whatever was necessary to help each other are elements of our true nature. Sounds strange or like some behavior from another country or another people. No, our natural, normal, healthy, and divine way of living demands that we love and care more about each other. And our natural, normal, healthy, and divine way of living demands that those who know teach the other and that each of us is duty bound to look out for our own people, family, community, and race.
Today communication and traditional interaction between neighbors, and family members has changed. No longer do people extend a welcoming hand to newcomers or stop and talk to or get to know their next door neighbors. This climate makes it difficult to take united action on issues that affect the community residents. The question then is how can this disconnection, violence, and poor quality of life change for the better. First, instead of promoting the things you do not want in your life, make steps to grow and nurture a safer and healthy state of being by being aware of what is happening around you, in you, and because of you.
When focusing on what we can do to help each other, examining the state of our health are vital. After decades of poor healthcare primarily because of lack of knowledge and other factors such as racism, lack of education, unemployment, and cultural barriers; a solution for Nubians/Indigenous people/Afrikan in the Diaspora is to learn more about natural health care and to stop relying on the people who have for centuries turned a deaf ear and blind eye to the suffering of our people. Survival of a family, people, Nation depends not on the strongest but on those who know themselves. Since when is it acceptable to pay the most and receive the least? As a people we have earned the right, no we were born with the right to a decent, healthy and happy life. Stop accepting the least and demand the best. Become proactive, improve your health, stop eating, taking the drugs masquerading as foods (genetically modified foods, artifical coloring, additives, and chemical-lab produced look-alike foods). Stop believing the Tel-a-lie-vision especially when it comes to taking care of your health and the health or your loves ones.
Take a look around the neighborhood and join with others to establish Saturday schools and begin to share positive knowledge of who we truly are. Help our children to feel love and pride in being a free-thinking, flesh and blood born human being. Instead of moaning about the violence, spend some time making the home a cultural haven, a place, a sanctuary that reflects the energy of a productive and honorable people. Our children deserve better, our elderly not only deserve better, they have paid and earned the right to live with dignity, have a high quality of life, and to feel safe.
