What are the Parts of Communication?
by Dr. Akosua Ali.Sabree
How a person talks to another person, how a person listens and whether he or she heard and understood what was said can promote conflict or squash it! The energy connected to effective communication is divided into two areas: verbal and non-verbal.
Communication involves seven elements: the sender, message, route, programming, receiver,
interpretation, feedback. However, whatever the message is, everyone has the ability to either accept or reject the message. Most people at some point in their lives have gotten in their own way and blocked their own energy by being both the sender and the receiver, and the message
sent, received, and accepted was a negative one. If you stop and think back, you might recall a time when you have said something negative about and to yourself, something like, "Oh, that was stupid," or "What on earth was I thinking?" or "I'm not as good as she is," or "I can't do it like he can." These and other energy blocking messages often stop people from going
somewhere or participating in some event or pursuing something they wanted to do. ( excerpt from Emancipating Your Spirit: A Conscious Guidebook: Affirmations, Meditation, Liberty and Other soulful Reflections by Dr. Akosua Ali.Sabree)

doesn't hurt, that is, that despite its glamour and impact, it plays no role in making this a more violent society. They may have had a case earlier in this century when portrayals of media violence were less believable but today the proliferation of realistic-looking mayhem, assault and death makes for a totally different situation. One expert believes that of the 25,000 murders committed in the United States every year (the greatest number of any industrialized country), at least half are due to the influence and desensitizing effects of media violence. At minimum, media violence may be most influential in modeling the use of deadly force as the primary, if not the only, way to solve problems and resolve interpersonal conflict.” Making Connections: Media's Role in our Culture of Violence Elizabeth Thoman http://www.medialit.org/reading_room/article379.html The mass media in this culture is a major values transmitting
and role modeling vehicle. We may say to our children, “do not kill”, “be kind and be honest” but our media programs us/them to accept and enjoy gratuitous violence, killing, mayhem and murder which promotes ruthlessness. What’s worse we allow our children to watch programs, own and play video games that promote and glorify senseless violence. America is becoming psychopathic because incivility and violence are the prime themes in both our language and media. Take a look at the headlines in the sports section of your local newspaper, “team so and so trounces, mauls defeats (chose your verb) team X”. Look at programs like Jerry Springer and the so called reality shows. Is it any wonder incivility and viojunious r. stantonlence erupt are used primarily as a means to resolve interpersonal conflict?
In America violence has become a norm of interpersonal activity. For example date rape is fairly common amongst young college kids, so is abusive hazing for initiation into fraternities and sororities as are ritual murders to get into a street gang! The collective consciousness of most Americans vibrates on the lowest most carnal level, and it manifests in all the de-energizing disease, discord and drama we see in our personal and collective lives. The reason we are so easily manipulated and tricked is that most Americans (most Africans in America opposed both the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq!) into going along with preemptive wars was we were induced to resonate/vibrate in a revenge, anger and fearful (full of fear) mode. To restore sanity, civility and humaneness we have to learn to elevate our consciousness. One way to elevate our consciousness is to limit the external media and stimuli you ingest and consume. We are allowing outsiders to program our minds. We need to pay closer attention to our own thoughts and ideation. When we find ourselves thinking about being mean, uncivil or disrespectful to others and/or ourselves, we should immediately stop and alter our thinking by changing our thoughts, think about something positive. Changing our thoughts and mental imagery from negative to positive will have a transforming impact on our thinking, our speech, our emotions and our behavior. Energy does follow thought. Our thinking, our mental imagery and emotions impact our glands and internal organs as well as our behavior. Our thinking contributes greatly to our health and to our dis-ease. We are creatures of habit. Mental attitudes are mental habits, our habitual ways of thinking. To go from bad habits to life enhancing thought patterns we have to alter our consciousness. Altered states of consciousness; going from carnal and fear driven thoughts to more positive thought patterns will improve our lives, give us healing, peace, strength and facilitate tapping into our innate divinity. “In societies that lack a spiritual tradition, people are left to their own misguided ideas on how to respond to this compulsive urge to inner peace. As their consciousness is polarized in the lower parts of their being (represented by spheres 7 to 10) they interpret this pull as an expression of their emotional nature (sphere 10- the animal spirit directly opposing 0) and seek to satisfy it through various means of ‘blowing off tension’ (sex, entertainment, violent acts etc) or escaping difficult situations.” Tree of Life Meditation System Ra Un Nefer Amen page 95.
Civilized societies (traditional African, Asian and Native American groups and cultures) teach their members how to go from one state to another using rituals, ceremonies and social setting designed specifically for that purpose. For the most part, Euro-America lacks a spiritual tradition/foundation, we have lots of organized religions (political tools used to control and manipulate the masses) but no spiritually empowered traditions because their cultural is essentially aspiritual. The good news is the consciousness of the planet is gradually elevating (despite appearances to the contrary). More and more people are grasping the metaphysical and spiritual principles that undergird our physical realm. The planet is becoming intuitively aware MA’AT is always (and in all ways) in the process of restoring the natural balance and harmony of the universe. We can be in harmony with this universal progression. Begin today to raise your consciousness by redefining yourself as a spirit being clothed in a marvelous physical body. Define and relate to yourself as one created by INFINITE INELLIGENCE/WISDOM. Practice deep breathing, use guided imagery and your imagination to picture a better, healthier you, living in harmony in a better more peaceful prosperous environment. Consciously do this several times a day (you do it anyway when you daydream only your daydreams are usually nonproductive fantasies) especially when you are about to go off to sleep. You will notice a change in yourself and your environment even if nothing physical “changes” around you, immediately it soon will. Alter your thoughts and you will alter your life. Raise your consciousness and you will come closer to being the you INFINITE WISDOM created you to be.

Raising Consciousness
No community, culture or people can advance/evolve beyond the consciousness of the majority of their people. Your consciousness is always showing, it manifests in your speech and behavior. America is the most violent nation in the world. We see this in the escalating incivility, violence and homicide rates in our cities, we see this in the themes of the video games movies, television programs and music of all kinds. We are being programmed to be desensitized and to mindlessly take delight in violence all types of uncivilized behaviors.
The corporate mind control apparatus focuses on the materialistic, hedonistic and the carnal while deliberately eschewing spirituality. They do this by design while telling us not to worry, violence watching and vicarious experiences with violent video games, movies and music is totally harmless. “For decades, media writers, directors and producers have been trying to tell us that the violent content of the media they create also
The Need for Revolution is all around us!
Although a few months have past, our community, indeed the world, lost the physical presence of Brother Gil Scott Heron. He was one of our masters of rhyme and political expression, truly a profound voice of resistance to the madness. Many brothers and sisters may be familiar with his many songs such as “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised,” “Who’ll Pay Reparations on My Soul,” and “King Alfred Plan.” We have often spoken about the messages in songs and the healing vibration of music, yet because of mis-education and confused thinking many miss the healing vibrations and messages. In the songs mentioned, Gil Scott Heron pleads for an awakening, for the people to realize there is still much work to be done. Now, a few readers may say Gil Scott Heron was old school, or he was talking about the 1960s and 1970s. However, the messages in his songs are more evident today than ever before. The need for change is all around us: our babies are dying; our neighborhoods, homes, even our bodies are being attacked and in some cases destroyed; and some would say our very minds are being attacked. Instead of the Tel-A-Lie-Vision being the ultimate weapon, we now have the Internet and chemo trails (chemical toxins being sprayed in urban communities; these chemo trails interfere with the immune system).
Many communities are food deserts (no decent food stores or massive food gardens). The chaos in our public schools, the growing number of private disciplinary schools which serve as part of the cradle to prison pipelines, young men wearing their pants in a manner that does not allow them to run or to be ready to defend themselves, song lyrics that degrade our women and glorify death and violence are all conditions that severely impact the health and well-being of our community. Even if you are not sure about the meaning behind all of the propaganda being thrown at the people of this country and the world or do not understand the purpose of spraying toxic chemicals over the people, or the reasons why our schools are so out of control and being used for other than meaningful education, or why certain areas have decent food supplies while others areas do not, or why buildings are going up daily yet there are fewer and fewer jobs for our youth, men or women; becoming more aware of the conditions that surround us and being ready and willing to learn are the first steps towards change. Preparing yourself and your family to make changes is another. First and foremost you must maintain your health. The following are suggestions to help you get started:
•
Believe strongly / know in your heart and soul that you and your family deserve a happy, healthy and whole life.
•
Be conscious about building up your immune system (a healthy immune system is vital to help combat illness). Increase your intake of clean water and vegetables and fruits with a variety of colors because they are rich antioxidants.
•
Join a food coop or start one, plant a vegetable garden, learn more about genetically modified organisms (GMO foods). Stay away from seedless foods that traditionally have seeds such as: seedless grapes, seedless watermelons, if at all possible buy organic foods.
•
Raise your consciousness: attend local seminars that teach you about safety: foods, self-defense, and meditation, managing stress, survival skills, truth about money, and communication.
•
Above all, once you become more aware, do not get discouraged or allow yourself to be distracted by nonsensical news or events. Remember freedom is not free, and despite what you may see on the Tel-A-Lie-Vision, the need to resist tyranny in the USA is real, the need to stand up, speak out is essential. Conditions do not get better by wishing or waiting for a mystical leader; conditions and life gets better by systematic change.
•
Remember the wisdom of Gil Scott Heron:
“But no matter how long you’ve been on trial with the days and weeks of self-denial
and no matter how many times you’ve tried to make it and found out that right then you just couldn’t take it.
If you are looking for a loser who found strength and success, remember the spirit of Brother Malcolm X
and know that you can leave all your mistakes behind. The day that you “really make up your mind”
Come on brother [sister]… come on up Stand on up and say…Don’t give up (spirits say don’t give up)
Yes it’s time to stop your fallin. ’ You’ve been down long enough
Can’t you hear the spirits callin’ Callin’ your name, Callin your name,
Don’t give up.”
